The Pahiyas Festival offers not only
the beautifully decorated "kipings"
but also numerous giants being
paraded during the event.

Enchanted Kingdom, Laguna (Holga 120F)

This place looks old with its vintage "Pepsi-Cola"
lamps. We usually go here to rest after walking
endlessly around the theme park since they offer
some refreshing ice cream shakes. Yummy!

Dikasalarin, Aurora (Lomo LCA)

It's a small island/rock seen from the
trail going to dikasalarin beach.
They said it was owned by the Angaras which
also owned dikasalarin and some other places
in Aurora.

Into the forest...

The forest has a calming effect.
It's scary sometimes... but most
often you feel safe in it.

Mt. Manabo, Batangas (Sony DSC P-52)

Yup! That's a sunrise pic up there...
I took it early in the morning. It was
foggy that's why I was able to shoot it.
Otherwise, my digital camera would have
suffered from direct exposure to the sun.

Mt. Daguldol - San Juan, Batangas (Canon EOS50)

This tree stands proud in the middle of the
forrest with its beauty. It caught my eye
while going to the mountain's peak. I'm not
sure if it was struck by a lightning or if its
dying due to old age. I hope its the latter though.

ruins

Friday, August 20, 2004

Corregidor, Bataan (Sony DSC P-52)

These ruins were located at Corregidor,
the largest of the islands guarding the entrance
to Manila Bay. These were barracks occupied by
the Americans during the World War II.
The island served as the main defense
against sea invasion. It was captured by the
Japanese during the war but the Americans
regained possession of it. Now, the island offers
some historic artifacts during WW II such as
cannons(batteries), tunnels and more ruins like these.

Taal Volcano, Batangas (Canon EOS50)

I saw these two horses while trekking down
from the crater. They were the only creatures
in sight. I felt like a stalker taking pictures of
these two. I think they like the privacy that
they have up in the mountains :D

During low tide, you can walk far enough
on this rocky shore up to the hill far ahead,
which is the only thing visible at high tide.

San Juan, Batangas (Canon EOS50)

Last weekend, I joined my friend's (Eye) outdoor group
on thier climb to Taal Volcano. We trekked for about
2 1/2 hours going to the crater for our campsite. The
site was just amazing! (can't wait for the pics...)
It rained during the night but it was more than
welcome since it was really hot on the crater.
As for the group, there was no dull moment with them.

Pat-yay, Banaue (Canon EOS50)

This is a hidden village in the Mountain Region.
It wasn't included in our itinerary for our
Mt. Amuyao Traverse Climb which for me
was the hardest climb i've been through!

We hiked/trekked to it from Mt. Amuyao's
peak for almost 12 hours. It was raining and
very cold! We were supposed to go from Mt. Amuyao
to Pula then to Cambulo.
Thinking about it right now, I'm grateful
that I experieced it...

Door Chain (Canon EOS50)

When I attended a Photo101 class a few months
back. Our instructor gave as a photo assignment for
us to practice what we've learned so far. The subject
can be anything but it has to be a line composition.
We each submitted 3 shots. I submitted the above
picture and it was awarded as 3rd best among the class.
Lucky me! :D

Pahiyas Festival, Lucban (Canon EOS50)

"Pahiyas is the harvest festival and is observed in the towns of
Lucban, Candelaria, Tayabas, Sariaya, Tiaong and Lucena City in
honor of San Isidro Labrador, the patron saint of farmers.
Considered one the Philippines’ biggest harvest festivals,
it is deeply rooted in the traditional celebration of thanksgiving
for bountiful harvests."
