I recently joined the UP Dragonboat Team. It's a great team sport.
There's more to it than just paddling! :D
It's hard but I hope I will get better soon.

I also got to use my good old SLR. I missed using film so I took my
slr to practice to take some shots. Also, my slr is a worry-free camera when
it comes to water unlike my dslr hehehe.

Went to Bohol last weekend for a much needed vacation. Last "hirit" before
the rainy season kicks in! Bohol has a lot to offer... from historical sites,
magnificent views and white-sand beaches. What made the trip even more
memorable was spending it with someone special. :D

Lighthouses are always great to shoot. They have this solitary attitude that makes
them very dramatic. This one is not operational. I guess it has served its purpose.
All it has to do now is stand still and wait for photographers like me to admire their beauty.

I guess my childhood playground (if I ever had one) would look like this if it was
left to rust and "grow" old just like the rest of us, children, playing on it.
But I'm glad it looks old like this... it's more photogenic this way. ;)

Last Sunday, my two housemates (jukey & dav) and I suddenly decided to go to
Caliraya for a photo shoot. We left at 10am which was already late and arrived
at Sta. Cruz around 1pm. Then, we rode a jeepney to Caliraya for about 30 mins.
We went directly straight at the Japanese Garden to shoot. Around 4pm, we
were walking along the famous Caliraya Lake shooting just about anything.
At 5pm, we were able to catch the last jeepney trip back to Sta. Cruz. We rode
on top of the jeep since it was already full which was great since we were able to
see the view and the sunset clearly. We arrived back here in Manila at 9pm just
in time for dinner.

This island is called "luli" island mainly because of its size.
Luli is short for "lulubog-lilitaw". During high tide, the sea rises up to
a point where the sand is completely below the water.

The river is around 8km long but tourists are only allowed on the first

Finally! I got to ride on an airplane... pers tym eh :D
We went to Puerto Princesa, Palawan last weekend.
The place offers a lot of beautiful sceneries. The visit was
a good introduction on what Palawan has to offer. Definitely,
we'll be going back to Palawan... Coron? El Nido? :)

Part of the hotair balloon festival was an aiplane show featuring lightweight
planes such as this Red Plane. They did some neat tricks like flying upside-down,
summersault and flying just a few feet away from the ground. I wish though that they
used some smoke just like in the movies to clearly outline their acrobatic flight.

A goat on top of a mountain!!!
It was like a farm at the peak... there were goats,
cows, horses and dogs.

We trekked up this mountain last weekend.
It was a fun climb. Strong winds and cold weather
welcomed us on top.

It was my first time to try xpro with my Holga!
If you still don't know... Holga is my toy camera
that uses medium format film (120).
Crossprocessing (aka xpro) is the process of using
the wrong chemicals to process a certain type of film.
In this case, I used a slide/positive (E6) film and had
it processed with negative (C41) chemicals.
The result? Unexpected colors! Cool huh?!

Pinacanauan River, Cagayan (Canon EOS50)

We hired this boat to take us to this area
of the river to witness the circadian flight
of the bats where millions go out at dusk.
The boat was quite big. It can accomodate
20 persons. The boatman was being accompanied
by his two sons. They stayed on their boat as
we patiently waited for the bats to come out.
I can only guess what they were talking about... :)

This cave was huge! It has 7 chambers.
They were able to build this small altar on the
main entrance. I hope they can maintain this
one and not pollute it.

Chico River, Kalinga (Kodak Disposable Water Camera)

Last weekend was a blast! It was one of a kind experience.
Whitewater rafting for 3 hours was fun after overcoming our
fears for the first few minutes and before every big rapid!
Caving at Callao and watching the circadian flight of bats
in Cagayan was icing on the cake.

I tried shooting directly into the sun
using my toy camera. I was pretty sure it
won't do any damage to it.
Shoot and experiment!

This mountain is one of the easiest to climb.
Jump-off point is at the beach, plenty of rest
stops and there's a water source on top...
What else can you ask for?!

Sometimes I can't help but compare us,
Filipinos, to the Americans. We love watching
Hollywood movies... we even like eating at
McDonalds! :)
But on a more serious note... take the
case of our recent elections. Both winning
candidates were the incumbents. Does that
mean that we are both afraid of changes? Or are
we contented with the things around us right now?
Personally, I couldn't care less who wins their election.
It's just that their country is so powerful
that voting for their president is like voting for the
president of the world! That's why the whole world
was so focused on their election.
Now the question is.. can Bush really help the world?
Or the nations will just be more divided after 4 years.
Will this child in the picture have a better future given
what's happening currently in our world???

We went to Puerto Galera last weekend to relax and enjoy
the long vacation... So as expected, there were lots of
people! Good thing we got one of the few available good

It was raining the whole time we were there.
So most of the time, we just stayed at
Jun's house eating, drinking while having
some nice conversations...

is actually a ridge until I saw this picture.
If you look closely, you can see the campsites

This was literally in the middle of nowhere!
It was such a sight when we saw this view... I couldn't
even imagine how and for how long did they make
these rice terraces. It was not as grand as the pyramids
in Egypt I suppose, but nevertheless, the efforts made
to build these terraces should be comparable to other
great structures.

How did we get here..you might wonder...
You have to trek a couple of hours to/from this
village. It is inaccessible to any form of vehicles.
From Mt. Amuyao, we trekked to this village for
nearly 12 hours!!! Yep, that's right...12 hours!!!
Then the next day, another 8 hours going to the
next village. We were trekking for 3 days until
finally we arrived at the last village before going
back to Banaue by jeepney!
It was an experience we wouldn't forget...
It's unfortunate that I'm not a good writer.
There are so many stories to tell during this
climb.

I think it's about time I post something
about myself. If you don't want to read
something about me... i don't care! hahaha
It's my blog anyways. :P

Who said only Colin (of TAR5) can do these
kinds of things?! hehe My active lifestyle
begun after I graduated from college. Before, my
activities only consisted of sleeping and eating.
Ok, I also did a lot of walking during college going
from one classroom to another... it's a big campus!
But other than this, I don't have any sports or
outdoor activities to keep those muscles in use.
A few years after college, I was introduced to
mountaineering. This was the first step in doing
so many things I never thought I could do.
It even made me a photographer! I've been
to different places... met a lot of people...
did a lot of things... these made me appreciate life
more. It was a good thing that I was working
already since it cost quite a lot to do these stuff.
I guess being able to afford it was a big factor.
But I'd like to believe that loving doing these
things is still the main factor.

Do I like my life right now? hell ye! I love it!
Am I a better person now?
umm.. that I need to find out!

is flourishing with tall grasses, it seemed
to be insufficient for this horse's diet.

Parks and Wildlife, Quezon City (Sony DSC-P52)

Taken during the Adventure Race we joined last
year. It was a fun race.. tiring but fun! We went
around Metro Manila running and biking. I still
got to take some shots during the race hehe
No pressure on us to win... We just wanted to
finish the race.. and we did!

San Miguel, Bulacan (Sony DSC-P52)

We rode this raft made up of bamboo
to cross the river. The man controlled
the raft by just using a long bamboo.
We had a little adventure when his
bamboo broke while we were crossing.
It was a good thing the current brought
us on the side and we threw a long rope
to an old woman who used all her
strength to hold the raft! Whew...she
was pretty strong! Thanks to her!

This reminded me of the movie Edwards Scissorhands.
It's a great movie with great characters.

I like how this certain part of Manila
was remodelled and beautified.
Now people can walk along the street
surrounded by old buildings. But sadly,
they painted them with bright pastel colors.
I like their old look and feel better.

Mt. Batulao - Nasugbu, Batangas (Canon EOS50)

We went to Mt. Batulao last weekend. The trail
was really hot (as always!). Most of us climbed
this mountain already that's why we expected the
heat. The climb was also our friend's bday climb.
Thanks Zoe for the TEQUILA and bus fare!!!
